Attic Window

  There are lots of panels that can be used to make the classic attic window.  People always shy away from those pesky Y seams, but Denise will show you it's not that hard to do with the sneaky half square triangle block.

 Lone Star Class

2/17/24

Learn how to use Quilt Smart's pre-printed interfacing to make the traditional Texas Lone Star.  Can be used as a wall hanging or as the center of a bed sized quilt.  Taught by Denise

9:30- 4 pm

$35 class fee plus interfacing kit

Fabrics:

  1/2 yd. of each of the four colors in the star

  1 1/4 yd. for background

  Borders- 1/4 yd. inner border, 1/2 yd. outer border, 1/2 yd. binding

 

 Beginner Quilting 101   FULL

2/24/24

 Learn how to quilt!  You will learn how to use the tools safely, how to cut accurately, how to sew 1/4", how to mark and quilt your runner and how to make and apply your own binding.  You will have a finished table runner by the end of the day! Students get 10% off all tools and fabrics for this class. Pattern supplied in class.  Stop in for class list requirements.

Class requirements:  Sewing machine in good working order, walking foot, fabrics, sharp scissors, rotary cutter, mat, rulers, thread to match fabrics, batting. 

If you are just getting into quilting, I have some tools you can borrow for the class.  Everyone gets 10% off all notions and fabrics for this class. 

Class supplies:

  Sewing machine with 1/4" foot

  Basic sewing supplies- scissors, thread, seam ripper, etc.

  Matching Thread for piecing

  Rotary cutter, 18" x 24" mat, acrylic rulers ( 6" x 24" and 6" x 12")


 

Orange Blossom Quilt

 No curved piecing with this beauty!  I'll show you the new technique for making this classic quilt pattern. The pattern can make a variety of quilt sizes.Taught by Denise

Binding Workshop

3/16/24

You finally finished your quilt, but not quite yet!  It's time to sew the binding on.  In this techniques class, you will learn how to make assorted bindings.  We will show you how to join your strips together, how to machine sew them on and finally how to hand sew the back.  We will also show you how to make bias binding, how to calculate how much fabric for binding, binding with a flange and how to use your machine to sew the front and the back of your binding if you aren't a fan of hand stitching.  There is a kit fee of $30.00 and that will include your pre-quilted blocks and binding strips.

Class fee is $30 plus $30 kit fee

Please bring your machine with assorted colored threads, scissors, seam ripper (just in case!) and a walking foot.

 

Free Motion Quilting 101

4/6/2024  9:30- 12:30 $35 class fee

Learn to use your sewing machine to free motion quilt. You will learn how to stipple, make a simple leaf, swirls, water, curls and combinations of several together.  Your machine must have a stipple foot or darning foot and have the capability to lower the feed dogs. There is a panel available for sale at the shop that you must prepare before the class.  Taught by Denise.

 

Punchneedle 101    

4/20/2024

Punchneedle is an old technique by "punching" floss through special cloth to create a design.  Many patterns to choose from.  You will need a punch needle tool and pre-printed panel, hoop and scissors.

English Paper Piecing 101

4/27/2024  9:30- 12:00  $25 class fee plus papers

This quilting project is perfect to take on vacation with you because you don't need a machine to make it!  Preparing the hexagons/shapes can be done before your trip and all you do is hand sew them together.  There are lots of shapes available now- you aren't stuck with the same old grandmother's flower garden.  Try something new!  We have a nice variety of patterns, books and shapes in stock.  This is a great way to use up smaller scraps too!  Taught by Denise.

 

Beginner Quilting 101

Learn the basics of quilting with this class.  We will teach you how to make a four patch and a half square triangle block, add some borders and turn it into a table runner- this wall hanging pictured is made with just 4 of the blocks, so you can make more blocks and turn it into a quilt if you would like! Machine Applique 101

Sat., May 18th  9:30- 3:00 pm  $35 class fee

Make just one or all 3 of these cute summertime wall hangings.  They are very easy to make with your sewing machine.  You can either use the blanket stitch or a satin stitch to sew the applique's down.  Taught by Denise.  Stop in for your supply list.

 

Clothesline Bowls

Sat., June 1st  9:30- 3 pm  $35 class fee plus pattern

Make these beautiful bowls with some clothesline and a jelly roll or 2 1/2" scraps of fabrics and your sewing machine.  They are so easy to make!  You will need to have a fabric glue stick, a jeans needle and a roll of clothesline (available at In Stitches) plus a colorful jelly roll or plenty of 2 1/2" strips of fabric.

 

Quilt as You Go Table Runner

Sat., June 8th  9:30- 3 pm  $35 class fee plus batting packet

This is definitely a beginner friendly quilting project!  While you are piecing the top, you are actually quilting the project! How easy is that?  All you do at the end is trim it and apply the binding.  Matching placemats are available as well.

 

Sat., June 29th  Point of View Table Topper  $35 class fee plus pattern and tool

This is the newest version of the folded star hot pad but this one is a big one!  Finishing out at 18", you can pick your focal fabric for the middle and choose 4 more fabrics for the prairie points. This is super easy to make- even a beginner will have fun making these! They make a great gift for Christmas too!  Make for every season of the year- spring, patriotic, fall, Christmas, winter, etc.
